BACKGROUND
Toontown is home to Disney’s classic characters: Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Goofy, Pluto, and more. While many of the attractions enable guests to explore the colorful buildings and homes in Toontown, Mickey’s house is unique because park visitors can meet the owner, Mickey himself! In keeping with the backstory of Toontown (that Mickey and his friends decided to connect to Disneyland so that park guests could visit their homes), Mickey’s House offers a complete walkthrough. Stop by as you explore the rest of Toontown, and remember to say hello to Mickey, the mouse who opened Toontown up to the public.

Mickey’s House is a fully decorated home fit for a mouse. The rooms and backyard are perfectly suited to Mickey’s personality, and are full of references to films Mickey has starred in over the years. Some features are interactive, like drawers and cabinets that open, allowing nosy guests to take an even closer look into the life of Mickey Mouse. At the end of the tour, guests enter Mickey’s screening room, where he has personally premiered all of his classic films, before meeting him and taking a photo. The Mickey’s House attraction is fun for Disney fans of all ages, and is a great way to ensure little ones meet at least one character during their visit to the park.

Although I was a teenager the first time I visited Mickey’s House, I immediately felt like a little kid again as soon as I walked in the door. There’s something so exciting about being inside the home of such an iconic character, and every room has so much detail. Imagineers have really outdone themselves with Mickey’s House, and it is such a treat to explore. Meeting Mickey at the end is just icing on the cake.
On days when Mickey is not there for the meet and greet, the house is still definitely worth exploring. The house is a perfect example of Imagineering creating Disney magic, and everyone should visit at least once.
VISITING TIPS
Visit Mickey’s house mid-morning to early afternoon. This is the best time to ensure you can meet Mickey, and the lines generally die down a bit at meal times. However, during peak season (especially mid-summer), lines to meet Mickey can get very long. If you want to look at the house without waiting in line to meet Mickey, you can turn around and leave the house before going into the projection room/waiting area.
A fun challenge when looking through Mickey’s House (or all of Toontown, for that matter) is to look for references to classic cartoons. There are photos, objects on tables, and signs in windows that allude to the Mickey and Friends cartoons everywhere! How many can you find?
TRIVIA
The first room in Mickey’s House has a passport with stamps all over it. Each stamp corresponds to the location of a Disney Park.
Unlike most hidden images (which are of Mickey), there is a hidden Donald Duck on Mickey’s piano.
Mickey’s backyard has a small doghouse where Pluto lives. Sometimes Pluto is around for meet and greets too.
