As guests head from Paradise Park to Grizzly Peak, many take the back path that winds around the entrance to Grizzly River Run. And though thousands of guests travel this path every day, few notice a hidden gem adorning this stretch of road: the Painted Ladies!

The Painted Ladies are a famous row of Victorian houses on Steiner Street in San Francisco. Built in the late 1890’s, these homes became famous in San Francisco when a number of local artists painted their homes in bright colors in the 1960s, starting a trend known as the Colorist Movement.

If you find yourself wandering around this part of California Adventure, take a moment to appreciate the Painted Ladies. Imagineers put an incredible amount of detail in this hidden gem, and this area is an excellent backdrop for photos.

    • I’ve never heard any specific explanation for that #. The only 32 I can think of related to Disney is that Walt won the Academy Award for Best Short Subject (Cartoon) in 1932 – for Flowers and Trees. But the number may not be related!

    • Sort of? They are a facade for some bathrooms. So I guess if you go into the bathrooms, technically you’re in the building…haha!
