Happy Halloween! Monday is the big day for costumes, candy, and spooky fun, but the Disneyland Resort has been celebrating Halloween all month long. In fact, each fall Frontierland hosts a seasonal hidden gem: the Halloween Tree!
The tree, which lights up the courtyard next to the Golden Horseshoe, draws inspiration from a 1972 novel by Ray Bradbury (also called The Halloween Tree). The tree was officially dedicated to Bradbury on Halloween night in 2007, marking the 35th anniversary of his book. The event also served as a thank you for his contributions to several Disney projects, including park attractions and various Disney movies.
The plaque reads: On the night of Halloween 2007, this stately oak officially became THE HALLOWEEN TREE, realizing famed author Ray Bradbury’s dream of having his symbol for the holiday become a part of Disneyland.
The branches of the tree bear tiny jack-o-lanterns, golden lights, and lots of orange sparkle.
The Halloween Tree serves as a perfect reminder to look for the small things in Disneyland. Even the trees get in on the holiday fun!
