MY RATING – ★★★★★

Trader Sam’s is a really fun place to grab a drink and appetizers. If you are lucky enough to score a table inside, you’ll get to experience the Tiki Hut, and the periodic storms when people order certain drinks from the bar. And if you sit outside, you get to enjoy scenic views of the pools and Disneyland Hotel grounds. The first time I visited Trader Sam’s, I sat by the fire on the lower patio, and it’s an experience I highly recommend. Whether you’re stopping by for a midday break or ending your night with a round of drinks, Trader Sam’s is an exciting and unique dining experience.

TRIVIA

The backstory of Trader Sam’s can be found through a series of letters on the walls of the bar. Trader Sam, the infamous collector from the Jungle Cruise, decided to open a Tiki Bar to show off his treasures. Inside the bar, he developed an interest in mixology, creating his own specialty drinks for adventurers to try. Sam’s “Gorilla Grog”, made from secret ingredients collected all over the world, has mystical powers, summoning occasional chanting and storms within the tiki bar.

  1. This place is terrific and almost impossible to get inside. Make your reservations early! Inside there is a ship in a bottle (the Wicked Wench from POC). If someone orders a Shipwreck On The Rocks, the ship sinks! It’s quite a trick, but an old one.

    • Haha. Is it the shipwreck where they spray the crowd with a spray bottle too? That always cracks me up. They’ve also got a virtual waiting list now too, which is awesome. Definitely give that a try!
