LOCATION

Paradise Pier – Pizza Oom Mow Mow was a surfer shack located on the Paradise Bay waterfront. To reach the restaurant, visitors would follow the main path toward the ferris wheel. Pizza Oom Mow Mow was located on the right-hand side of the bay, where Boardwalk Pizza and Pasta stands today.

EXPERIENCE

Details:

  • Service Type – quick service
  • Seating – indoor dining room and adjacent patio
  • Entertainment – none

Pizza Oom Mow Mow was California Adventure’s surf culture epicenter. The quick service restaurant served a variety of pizzas, and a limited selection of pastas and salads. Diners would order inside, and then enjoy a meal overlooking Paradise Pier and the bay. Though it was one of California Adventure’s quieter restaurants, Pizza Oom Mow Mow’s distinctive personality made it one of the most famous dining spots in the park during its lifetime.

CLOSURE

Though it had been a California Adventure original, Pizza Oom Mow Mow was never one of the park’s best restaurants. This quick-service spot had consistently mediocre reviews, and guests typically preferred the nearby Pacific Wharf dining options. So when California Adventure began its major expansion and renovation, it wasn’t much of a surprise when Pizza Oom Mow Mow closed. Instead, the space was revamped into a Victorian boardwalk-style dining hall, with an expanded pizza, pasta, and salad menu.

TRIVIA

All of the pizzas were served in a surfboard shape.

From fall 2001 to fall 2002, Pizza Oom Mow Mow hosted a party called the “Ohana Luau”, a celebration of Hawaiian food and culture hosted by Lilo and Stitch.

The interior walls of this restaurant had a number of different displays, including an assortment of surfer movie posters and a collection of vintage California postcards.
