Disneyland fans have been anxiously (or begrudgingly) awaiting the arrival of GOTG in Hollywood Land. And now, we have a date: May 27th. But we also have a brand new seasonal event to mark the occasion: the Summer of Heroes!
Like Season of the Force in Tomorrowland, the Summer of Heroes will be a temporary overlay of Hollywood Land (minus the permanent ride). So what will this summer event entail?
The biggest draw to Summer of Heroes is, of course, the heroes. Guests will be able to meet Spider Man, Captain America, Black Widow, Hawkeye, and GROOT! Hawkeye and Black Widow will team up to train young recruits throughout the day (much like the Jedi Training Academy), and Black Widow will also cruise through the land in an armored Avengers vehicle for “heroic encounters”, with details to be announced.
FOOD & FUN
After meeting the heroes, guests can participate in Star Lord and Gamora’s dance party, held daily in Hollywood Land. The dance party will feature classic rock and roll music inspired by the film’s original soundtrack, with Star Lord serving as master DJ.
Shops and restaurants throughout Hollywood Land will also offer exclusive superhero merchandise and food. No word on specific offerings yet, but I’d be surprised if those offerings didn’t include special desserts, popcorn buckets, drinks, t-shirt…the standard event offerings in Disney parks.
The party starts on May 27th, and will run through September 10. For more information about the latest summer news, events, and offerings, check out the official parks page here. You can also follow the event’s official hashtag: #HeroUp!
Are you excited for the Summer of Heroes? I still have mixed feelings about the new attraction, but I’m always happy to see more characters in the parks. One thing’s for sure, this event will definitely draw crowds into Hollywood Land, which has been sadly empty for months.
