Welcome to Ask The Duchess – Vol. 44, a monthly Q&A post covering a variety of resort-related topics. Ask The Duchess answers questions submitted by readers. If you have a question you’d like answered, send me a message here.
1. Best quick service spot for just a good sandwich? Other than Earl of Sandwich of course. (submitted by Mabel)
In Disneyland, I love the Carnation Café. In California Adventure, I’d recommend Smokejumpers Grill. And in Downtown Disney, I am a huge fan of Uva Bar’s sandwiches!
2. Are high heels allowed in Disneyland? (submitted by Stephenie)
They are, but I would STRONGLY discourage you from wearing them. You will spend all day and night standing or walking. It’s a lot in comfortable shoes.
3. Do I need the Disneyland app for my trip, or can I get by without it? (submitted by Gary)
You can absolutely get by without it, but it’ll make your life so much easier. You can see attraction wait times, view menus/order food/modify dining reservations, view performance showtimes, and book and access fast passes.
4. Can I load my Disneyland tickets and fast passes onto my Disney World magic band? (submitted by Marianne)
Nope, the parks run on different systems, and Disneyland doesn’t currently support magic bands.
5. I’ve never been to Disneyland before. I’m seeing that there are two “parks”, but then a ton of different areas called “lands”. Do I purchase tickets based on the park I want to visit, or the land? How do I visit each part of the resort? (submitted by Ryan)
The Disneyland Resort has two parks, and each park has mini areas dubbed “lands”. You need a ticket to visit one park, or a “hopper” ticket, which allows you to access both parks on the same day. Lands are not gated and don’t require any sort of ticket; you can roam freely throughout the park once you’re through the gates.
