1. Why did they change fast pass to Lightning Lane? (submitted by Aimee)
I honestly don’t know what’s behind the new branding. If you ask me, Lightning Lane is a name that doesn’t sound like it fits into Disney’s branding. I much prefer fast pass, personally!
2. I don’t understand Genie+. Is it a different service than Genie? Why did Disney make this so confusing!!! (submitted by Kelley)
I completely agree; Disney honestly did a really poor job of explaining this. Genie+ is an optional paid upgrade within Genie, which itself is free. It’s not a different app or program – just a section you can “unlock” for a fee. Here‘s my post breaking down what each entails.
3. If I buy a lower level of a Magic Key, can I later upgrade to a higher one? (submitted by Joseph)
Yes, you can! I believe you have to pay the difference in price in full when you upgrade. You cannot downgrade your Magic Key, however, if you decide you don’t want your existing level.
4. Can I upgrade my Oogie Boogie Bash ticket into a Magic Key? (submitted by Lori Ann)
Unfortunately no – only regular park tickets can be upgraded. Special event tickets don’t count!
5. Will single rider lines be affected by Lightning Lane? (submitted by Alex)
Not that I’ve seen or heard. And I really hope they aren’t! That’s where I spend a lot of my day 🙂
