Welcome to Ask The Duchess – Vol. 66, a monthly Q&A post covering a variety of resort-related topics. Ask The Duchess answers questions submitted by readers. If you have a question you’d like answered, send me a message here.
1. I am traveling to Disneyland with a broken foot. I can technically walk (hobble) on it, so I’m not sure if I should use a wheelchair. However, I know it’s a long day of walking and I think using crutches will be really difficult. Is it ok for me to rent a wheelchair? (submitted by Darlene)
It is absolutely okay to rent a wheelchair. I can’t imagine trying to explore Disneyland all day on crutches!
2. What’s the fastest way to get to Rise of the Resistance? (submitted by Noah)
It does depend on where crowds are flowing during your trip, but I generally like to walk through Frontierland and then through Galaxy’s Edge (assuming you’re starting from Main Street). If you’re on the Adventureland/New Orleans Square side of the park, it’s much faster to walk through Critter Country into Galaxy’s Edge.
3. I like to crochet – can I bring crochet hooks into the park to use while waiting in line? (submitted by Nancy)
Absolutely! I’m a knitter myself – if my needles didn’t take up so much elbow room I might do something similar 🙂
4. Everyone has a favorite churro cart. What’s yours? (submitted by Claire)
My first thought was, “Does everyone really have a favorite cart?” And then I laughed because I realize I do have one. It’s the cart on Buena Vista Street, by the entrance to Grizzly Peak.
5. What’s the most annoying question you get asked regularly about Disneyland? (submitted by Christy)
I wouldn’t say there are any genuine questions that are annoying. Everyone starts out as a beginner – so I’m happy to help with even the most 101-style questions (which is why I created a Disneyland 101 section of the blog!). What annoys me is when people “ask a question” that is really a rude comment or political rant, with no goal of any actual information gathering.
If I see a paint color scheme in them park or on a building and I wanted to use it in on my home how can I find out type of paint color used. As it a disney secret????
They don’t publicly disclose colors but I have two suggestions.
1 – bring some of those mini swatch strips close to the color you think it might be into the park and hold it up against said building.
2 – there are some apps that do “color matching” if you use them on something in real life. I have never tried them myself so I can’t speak to the accuracy, but might be worth a try!
