Welcome to Ask The Duchess โ€“ Vol. 93, a monthly Q&A post covering a variety of resort-related topics. Ask The Duchess answers questions submitted by readers. If you have a question youโ€™d like answered, send me a message here.

1. Is there a way to see what characters are going to be roaming the park on any given day in the app? (submitted by Julia)

In the app, you can filter by “characters” to see who has scheduled meet and greets at designated areas. But roaming characters are magical surprises.

2. Is the Disneyland Railroad open at night, or just during the day?

The railroad is open so long as the park is!

3. Are there any good viewing spots for the fireworks outside of Disneyland Park itself but on resort property? (submitted by Nick)

You can find partial views of the fireworks sporadically in California Adventure or in Downtown Disney. The best viewing spot (and if you go, you’ll always find others joining you) is the esplanade between the two park gates. It’s not a total view, but it’s the best you’ll get outside of Disneyland.

4. What’s the best way to get from Adventureland to Star Wars Land? I always get trapped in crowds. (submitted by Kyle)

Most of the time, it’s most efficient to avoid New Orleans Square if there’s even a remotely busy day. Head through Frontierland for a less chaotic (and probably faster) entry to Galaxy’s Edge.

5. Is Premier Pass in place of a park ticket?ย (submitted by Mei)

No. You need to have a park ticket; premier pass is unfortunately an expensive version of a Lightning Lane, not a ticket.
