Welcome to Ask The Duchess – Vol. 94, a monthly Q&A post covering a variety of resort-related topics. Ask The Duchess answers questions submitted by readers. If you have a question you’d like answered, send me a message here.
1. Are there changing rooms near wet rides like Grizzly River Run if you get soaked through? (submitted by Nicola)
There are bathrooms near every wet ride where you could change, but there are no other dedicated changing rooms.
2. Are all of your posts still good park advice, or should we disregard the older ones? (submitted by Nadine)
I do my absolute best to keep posts as current as I can, and have removed content in the past that is no longer relevant. For example, I removed a whole bunch of old touring plans I had – because they are just no longer realistic or helpful in the era of Lightning Lane!
3. Can I do an unofficial half marathon and just run through the park on my own? (submitted by Kristina)
Cast members/security generally stop guests from running for everyone’s safety, so I think it’s safe to assume you would be stopped before you could complete 13.1 miles in the park. You could certainly walk one though!
4. Can I watch Fantasmic! from Tom Sawyer Island? (submitted by Carole)
Nope, Tom Sawyer Island is the stage for the show. Rides to the island close at sundown, several hours before showtime.
5. Do you believe Disneyland is haunted? (submitted by Noelle)
I personally don’t believe any place is haunted (I’m quite a skeptic) so I don’t think I’m a good person to ask. But many cast members believe certain areas in the park are haunted, particularly the Disneyland Emporium and Candy Palace on Main Street. There’s also allegedly a ghost that sometimes sits in empty seats on Space Mountain, and guests don’t know he’s a ghost until he doesn’t appear in your group photo!
My husband swears he saw a ghost on Tom Sawyer Island, and he is very much a skeptic as well, but in the way that he believes there are things that are currently not explained by science, but doesn’t believe everything he hears.
Also, girl, I feel you on trying to stay up to date on the resort. I keep saying I’ll do a revamped guide post, but every time I sit down to write one, the Resort announces something else!
Haha spooky!!! I’ll have to compile a list of ghost stories and write a more detailed post 🙂 And I know re: staying up to date! I keep trying to update old posts and the list seems endless because things change so fast…ESPECIALLY in Downtown Disney!
