As a recent college grad, I’m in a bit of a nostalgic mood right now. I recently dug through the garage and my closet and uncovered many of my long-neglected childhood toys, including my brother’s train set. I started putting pieces of the track together, and realized one of the bridges looked like the berm at the front of Disneyland. Then I had an idea—why not use these toys to build a mini park?
If you’re looking for a creative outlet, or want a hands-on activity with your kids, try building your own mini Disneyland. Sorting through my toys and organizing the park was really fun, and made me all the more excited for my next trip.
Here’s my version of Main Street USA:
Autopia and the diorama tunnel on the Disneyland Railroad track:
And finally, the Jungle Cruise:
I couldn’t really find anything that worked for Critter Country or Mickey’s Toontown, and I didn’t have the space to attempt California Adventure. But building Disneyland was really fun for this “big kid”, and I plan on building again with my 5-year-old neighbor. Whether you know Disneyland like the back of your hand or need to use a map as a guide, constructing your own Disneyland is a great activity, and afterwards, you’ll definitely feel a sense of accomplishment!
