Pacific Wharf Cafe

February 2001 – present

LOCATION

Pacific Wharf – When you crossed the bridge to the central dining area in Pacific Wharf, you’d find the Pacific Wharf Café on the left corner.

EXPERIENCE

Pacific Wharf Café was one of the quick-service restaurants located in Pacific Wharf’s central dining area. Diners grabbed food at the service counter, and could enjoy their meals at the patio tables, which overlooked Paradise Bay.

CLOSURE

The Pacific Wharf Cafe didn’t close so much as rebrand. When the land became San Fransokyo Square in 2023, the restaurant took on a new identity as Aunt Cass Cafe, named for one of the characters in Big Hero 6.

TRIVIA

My original rating: The Pacific Wharf Café features one of San Francisco’s most famous food items: Boudin bread. Boudin’s fresh sourdough makes any sandwich taste better, and diners can find a variety of healthier meal options at the Café. However, this restaurant has surprisingly few sandwich options, which is definitely a disservice to the great bread they offer. If Pacific Wharf Café were to add more choices to their menu, I would raise this rating to four stars. (★★★☆☆)

The central dining area in Pacific Wharf, where the Café resided, was a blend of San Francisco’s Fisherman’s Wharf and Monterey’s Cannery Row.

Pacific Wharf Café offered Boudin bread, a famous San Francisco sourdough company. Though Boudin sells bread nationally, all of their products are baked using the “mother dough” from the San Francisco factory.
