Pym Test Kitchen

June 2021 – present

LOCATION

Avengers Campus – The Pym Test Kitchen faces the central courtyard of Avengers Campus. If you’re coming from the main entrance to the land, walk toward Mission Breakout. You’ll see the seating area on your left before you hit the Quinjet building. And if you’re coming from the Hollywood Land or Cars Land sides, walk toward the Spiderman building and you’ll see it on your right.

EXPERIENCE

Details:

  • Service Type – quick service
  • Seating – adjacent covered patio
  • Reservations – no
  • Entertainment – none
  • Menu

WEB isn’t the only research lab in California Adventure. Using Pym particles, research chefs at the Pym Test Kitchen experiment with the scale of foods – growing sandwiches to sharable scales and shrinking other foods to bite sized snacks. So come with your appetite – because the lab is always looking for hungry test subjects.

MY RATING – ★★★★☆

The Pym Test Kitchen adds another much needed restaurant to the northeastern side of the park. The food is decent, not spectacular, but I think the atmosphere is really great. Sitting on the patio feels a little bit like eating at a beer garden, and it’s a great people-watching spot. I wouldn’t say this restaurant is a “must visit” during your trip, but it’s definitely worth trying or adding to your short list in California Adventure.

MY FAVORITES

  • Not so little chicken sandwich
  • Quantum pretzel

TRIVIA

When inside the Test Kitchen, take a second to check out your surroundings. You’ll see massive soda cans and condiment bottles supplying the dispensers, and huge cell phones repurposed into menu boards.

The Pym lab’s tagline is “shrinking problems, growing solutions”.

  1. Overall, I haven’t been impressed with Avengers Campus, and find the Pym Test Kitchen to be the best area of the land, with the cute pretzel gimmick where you order, and the soda cans and condiment area being fun as well. I also like the whimsy of the food a lot. I totally agree with the outdoor area though, very modern beer garden, but, like you said, good for people watching and catching a bit of the stunt show if you are there are the right time.

    • I agree with you, Janey! The Campus is very…ok. It needs more, but it’s hard to articulate what’s missing. I think the Quinjet attraction would be a good place to start.
