Thereโ€™s a famous hidden gem above Main Streetโ€™s fire station: Waltโ€™s Lamp. The idea is that it stays illuminated permanently, to symbolize Waltโ€™s spirit staying in the park. So when I started to notice an always-on light in California Adventure, I started to wonder if it had special meaning too.

Head over to Hollywood Land after dark and look up at the building across from the Hyperion Theater, just at the edge of Avengers Campus. The corner office light will be on.

After doing some research online, I found a few articles suggesting this is a nod to Waltโ€™s office in Burbank, which sat in a third-floor corner suite like this window. It also tracks with the buildingโ€™s inspiration โ€“ the studio on Hyperion Avenue where some of Waltโ€™s earliest animations were developed.

Walt's Office Light

I asked two different cast members in the area if they had official word on the story of the window. They didnโ€™t, but both had heard similar theories โ€“ that itโ€™s a tribute to Waltโ€™s animation office. For me, thatโ€™s credible enough to seem like the likely intention! And I think itโ€™s a cool idea to have a glowing light in both parks. While itโ€™s true Walt never set foot in California Adventure, thereโ€™s no denying the work he did in that Burbank office was the start of an evolving brand and entertainment empire.
