April 2017 – October 2021
LOCATION
Fantasyland – The Castle Holiday Shoppe faced Sleeping Beauty Castle in the center courtyard of Fantasyland. If you were coming into the land from Main Street, you’d see it on your right, just after you walked through the archway. If you were arriving in Fantasyland from Frontierland or Tomorrowland’s walkways, you’d see it on your left, just after Peter Pan’s Flight.
EXPERIENCE
Details:
- Merchandise – Holiday ornaments, stockings, and other souvenirs
- Unique Features – Garlands and a year-round tree, menorahs on the mantle
Though many shops throughout the resort sell ornaments for much of the year, the Castle Holiday Shoppe was Disneyland’s hub for all things holidays. Here, you could purchase a menorah or Christmas stocking in the middle of summer. No matter what time of year you visited Disneyland, you’d always be able to stock up for the next holiday season.
CLOSURE
This store abruptly closed in the fall of 2021, without much explanation. Personally, I think it closed because Main Street opened its own year-round holiday shop, thus reducing the need for this space. A Merlin-themed shop opened in this location in the spring of 2022, selling generic clothing and accessories.
TRIVIA
The Castle Holiday Shoppe replaced the Heraldry Shoppe, a quiet little shop selling family coats of arms.
I’d love to browse ornaments from there. Perfect way to decorate for for Christmas with a disney twist
How can I order a Chip nutcracker to go with the Dale we just purchased while on vacation? I’m unable to see anything on line.
Thank you!
Hi Kelly – try calling Disneyland’s guest services. They may be able to help: (877) 560-6477
That’s so interesting how it used to be a shop that sold something else. It’s nice to visit shops that have something different than the standard Disney Park merchandise you can find in any shop.
