May 2019 – present
LOCATION
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge – The Droid Depot faces Batuu’s south side, making it a little easier to find than most of the land’s shops. If you’re coming from the Frontierland entrances, head toward the staircase leading toward the Falcon and Ronto Roasters. You’ll see the Depot on your right, before you start climbing the stairs. If you’re coming from the Critter Country entrance, follow the main path, keeping to the right. You’ll see the Droid Depot in front of you when the path splits between the staircase and the walkway toward Frontierland’s entrances.
EXPERIENCE
Details:
- Merchandise – Customized, build-your-own droids
- Price Range – $100 base cost, plus optional upgrades
- Unique Features – Animatronic droids, plus your droids can interact with other droids in Batuu using bluetooth
Have you been longing for your own mini R2D2 or BB8? The Droid Depot has a special opportunity: build your own, one-of-a-kind droid. At the Depot, you can choose your droid’s color, shape, and personality. Plus, you’ll have the chance to take your droid around Batuu and watch it interact with fellow droids!
SHOPPING TIPS
The Droid Depot accepts reservations ahead of time, and I strongly recommend you make them to avoid a long wait. One thing that’s important to remember when making reservations – Galaxy’s Edge is at the far edge of Disneyland. Don’t expect to get from Main Street to the Droid Depot in 5 minutes – it takes a solid 15 minutes to mosey over from the central hub. Give yourself enough time to get to Batuu, and you’ll be good to go.
One important thing to keep in mind – you cannot use your droid’s remote control inside Disneyland, including Galaxy’s Edge. You can take it out of it’s box for photos within Galaxy’s Edge, but anywhere else in the park, it must stay enclosed. Many coasters and larger attractions do not allow you to carry your boxed droid into your ride vehicle (they’re pretty bulky), so you may need to drop it off at your hotel or rent a locker if you build your droid first thing in the morning.
TRIVIA
Keep an eye out for the nearby droids outside the shop; they’ll chirp and share their excitement at meeting your new droid.
Observant visitors will notice droids from all nine films, including medical droids, imperial droids, even R5-D4, the droid Uncle Owen considers purchasing in Episode IV.
It was a cool surprise that the droids interact with other droids. Very good time at Depot!
I would like to return my droid. I do not feel that it was worth the expense and my son is not much interested in the remote control.
Hi Renee – this is not Disneyland customer service; this is a fan blog. I doubt Disney will accept a return on a customized, used droid, but if you’d like to get in touch with customer service, you can do so at this number: 877-560-6477.
And the lightsaber lighting ceremony is LIT
That’s not at the Droid Depot…that’s over at Savi’s Workshop.
