LOCATION
Adventureland – South Seas Traders faced the open walkway through central Adventureland, across from the Jungle Cruise. Today, the building still holds the marquee, though the space is used as an open seating and rest area.
EXPERIENCE
Details:
- Merchandise– Clothing, hats, accessories
- Unique Features– Shrunken Ned, Aladdin’s Other Lamp, pressed coin machines
Explorers wandering Adventureland could also dress the part with a quick stop in South Sea Traders. This shop offered merchandise from many non-Disney brands, all with a boho or tropical theme. The shop also connected to the Adventureland Bazaar, making it easy for visitors to shop their way through the land.
CLOSURE
Adventureland used to be a logistical nightmare. Strollers parking was located straight down the middle of the walkway, making it impossible to navigate with any crowds. To remedy this problem, Disney shuffled the shops, moving stroller parking into a hidden area and providing seating to pull crowds off to the side of the walkway. The plan worked, dramatically opening up Adventureland, but South Seas Traders had to close to make room for the new seating area.
TRIVIA
This shop’s hidden gems survived the closure; both are accessible features in the new seating area!
