LOCATION
Grand Californian Hotel – The Craftsman Bar & Grill overlooks the Grand Californian pool, in a fairly central location on the hotel grounds. If you’re coming from the lobby, walk down the hall that leads to the Storytellers Cafe and turn right at the end of the hall. You’ll see the bar entrance on your right. If you’re coming from Grizzly Peak‘s hotel entrance, you’ll see the bar on your left right as you cross into hotel grounds.

Looking for a breather from the chaos of park hopping? The GCH Craftsman Bar & Grill welcomes all visitors – not just those staying at the Grand Californian. Here you’ll find a wide variety of beers, wines, and cocktails, plus some snacks and shared plates to munch on while you relax. You can watch a game on the big tv, or just enjoy the view overlooking the Grand Californian’s pool.
MY RATING: ★★★★★
The Craftsman Bar & Grill is one of my favorite newer hangout spots outside of the parks. The location is really convenient even if you’re not staying at the Grand Californian; it’s easy to get to from California Adventure for any guest, and then you can take the hotel’s Downtown Disney entrance to get back within the security bubble of the parks and shopping. Stopping here for a pizza and a drink is an awesome way to take a break and get off your feet.
MY FAVORITES
- Craftsman’s Garden
- Cucumber Spritz
- Paradisi Punch
- Margherita Pizza
TRIVIA
This dining spot has two areas: the “bar” (bar/lounge next to the pool) and the “grill” (counter service with to-go meals and snacks).
The bar (and honestly, all of the Grand Californian) draws design inspiration from California Craftsman style architecture – particularly the Gamble House in Pasadena.
The grill is open for breakfast, but the bar is only open for lunch/dinner.
The grill was formerly known as White Water Snacks.
I have to admit that, while I’ve never spent the sort of money needed to stay at one of the Disney resort hotels, I absolutely love the Grand Californian. I’ve only eaten at Storytellers and the Napa Rose, but the Craftsman looks wonderful.
I almost never stay on property – it is SO expensive. But I love hanging out at Trader Sam’s or the Grand Californian if I want a break from the parks!
