January 2001 – present
LOCATION
Downtown Disney – La Brea Express is part of the larger La Brea Bakery, at the end of Downtown Disney. If you head toward the park gates, you’ll see La Brea on your right; it’s the last building before you hit the esplanade between Disneyland and California Adventure.
EXPERIENCE
Details:
- Service Type – quick service
- Seating – adjacent patio
- Reservations – no
- Entertainment – none
- Menu
Love the taste of La Brea Bakery, but not in the mood for a sit-down meal? Swing by La Brea Express for a sandwich, pastry, coffee, salad…anything you can grab and eat on the go! La Brea Express has the same great bread as the cafe, and the next-door patio is shady and surprisingly quiet, given its proximity to the two parks.
MY RATING – ★★★★☆
La Brea is a solid choice for quick service in Downtown Disney. I most often visit this spot for breakfast, on the way to the park, but their lunch and dinner selections are good too. Some of their sandwiches aren’t that great (their pesto is very weird, in my opinion), but generally speaking, their offerings are tasty and the patio is awesome.
MY FAVORITES
- Brioche French Toast
- Grilled Chicken Sandwich
TRIVIA
All of the breads featured in menu items are authentic “La Brea” breads.
La Brea Express has the distinction of being the closest Downtown Disney restaurant to the parks. Don’t be surprised if it’s always buzzing with crowds, even when it isn’t a peak mealtime.
The green wall directly behind La Brea Express is the back of Soarin’ Around the World!
