May 2019 – present
LOCATION
Downtown Disney – Sugarboo Co. can be found on the western end of Downtown Disney. If you’re coming from the hotels side, keep to your right; you’ll see it just beyond the Earl of Sandwich. And if you’re coming from the parks side, walk all the way down the main drag. You’ll see the little shop on the left, after the LEGO Store and Starbucks.
EXPERIENCE
Details:
- Merchandise – Jewelry, ceramics, and home decor
- Price Range – Huge range; smaller collectibles under $20, with some home wares over $250
- Unique Features – The least “Disney” store in Downtown Disney; reclaimed wood design with artsy styling throughout
If you don’t want a souvenir that’s “too Disney” during your trip, Sugarboo & Co. is a great place to shop. This store sells all kinds of home decor and little gifts, some of which have subtle Disney theming. The store calls themselves a “dealer in whimsy”, so you never know what you’ll find in stock.
SHOPPING TIPS
Sugarboo & Co. is rarely overcrowded, so it’s not difficult to shop here. I have found that it closes a bit earlier than other shops on less-crowded days, so it’s probably best not to save it for last. My advice – stop here on the way back to your hotel when you’re taking a break, putting the little ones down for a nap, etc., so you don’t have to cart any fragile gifts around with you.
TRIVIA
Sugarboo’s name comes from owner Rebecca Puig’s nicknames for her two children.
To mark the shop’s opening in 2019, Disney Parks Blog interviewed Puig and asked her about her vision and the store’s concept. You can read it here.
