Catal Restaurant

January 2001 – April 2023

LOCATION

Downtown Disney โ€“ Catal sat at the center of Downtown Disney, across from its sister restaurant, facing the central plaza. To find this quiet dining spot, you would head toward the outdoor Uva Bar. Catal was on the corner nearby, next to Marcelineโ€™s Confectionary.

EXPERIENCE

Catal was a Mediterranean-inspired dining spot overlooking Downtown Disney. Guests chose from a selection of meat dishes, veggie dishes, and paella, and could enjoy a cocktail while perched above the center plaza of Downtown Disney.

CLOSURE

In 2023, Disney announced plans to majorly renovate and refresh downtown Disney. As part of this extensive project, Catal and most of the restaurants in the central section of the district closed to make way for new dining experiences. Catal’s space became Paseo, a Mexican restaurant.

TRIVIA

My original rating: I thought the food was pretty good, just not as awesome as I expected it to be given the prices. The atmosphere is great, and the second story balcony is perfect for enjoying the view of Downtown Disney and people-watching. So overall, this is one of the better restaurants in Downtown Disney, and Iโ€™d recommend this spot to anyone thinking about giving it a try. (โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜†)

Uva Bar, though technically a separate dining option, was part of Catal. The two restaurants shared a kitchen, and Uva even bore the name โ€œCatalโ€ on the bar and menu.

This was actually one of the smallest restaurants in Downtown Disney, having seating only on the second floor and on its narrow balcony patio.
