LOCATION

New Orleans Square – La Petite Patisserie hid along one of the alleyways in New Orleans Square, across from the entrance to the French Market. Today, this space is no longer its own dining spot, instead extending as a seating area behind Cafe Orleans.

EXPERIENCE

Details:

  • Service Type – quick service
  • Seating – outdoor patio
  • Entertainment – none

This little service window tucked in New Orleans Square offered four different kinds of waffles on a stick. These fan-favorite snacks were doused in powdered sugar and chocolate, making for a perfect (but messy!) afternoon snack. The shop also sold cappuccinos, for guests looking for a caffeine dose between boat rides and doom buggy tours.

CLOSURE

I couldn’t find a lot of information explaining exactly why this shop closed. The somewhat hidden location may have contributed to light traffic compared to nearby restaurants. The restaurant was also never open for the full day, sometimes not opening at all on lighter traffic days, so Disney may have though it was a poor use of space. In any case, the shop went away in 2004, offering guests an expanded seating area instead.

TRIVIA

La Petite Patisserie translates to “the little pastry shop”.

The shop’s sign featured two fleur-de-lis, a symbol of the city of New Orleans.
