February 2001 – January 2018
LOCATION
Paradise Pier – Sideshow Shirts marked the last stop on the boardwalk for Paradise Pier shoppers. The massive storefront hid beneath the California Screamin’ track, close to the Mickey’s Fun Wheel entrance.
EXPERIENCE
Details:
- Merchandise – Tees, plus some ears and other seasonal accessories
- Unique Features – Giant Barker statue above the register
True to its name, Sideshow Shirts offered a massive selection of Disney and Pixar tees, tanks, and sweatshirts. Seasonally, the shop also sold ear hats, collectible holiday gear, or Halloween accessories. The open entryway and close location to the boardwalk rides made Sideshow Shirts a popular place to shop all year long.
CLOSURE
In 2017, Disney announced plans to split Paradise Pier into two new lands: Paradise Park, which would maintain the Victorian boardwalk theming, and Pixar Pier, a new Pixar-themed land. The entire rear section of Paradise Pier closed in January 2018, to make room for new Pixar-themed shops and decorative facades. This shop became one of the longest operating gift shops in all of California Adventure, lasting one month shy of seventeen years.
TRIVIA
Sideshow Shirts had its own hidden gem: Sideshow Kaa.
This shop was the only space in the boardwalk to go through no changes as part of the 2007-2012 expansion and renovation project.
