October 2002 – September 2018
LOCATION
A Bugโs Land โ If you entered through the main entrance of the land, keep right at the fork and youโd see the Buggies straight ahead. Guests arriving from Hollywood Landย turned left when they arrive in A Bugโs Land and found the Buggies just beyond Francisโ Ladybug Boogie. And finally, if you took Route 66 from Cars Land into A Bugโs Land, youโd find the Buggies on your right, across from the entrance to Heimlichโs Chew Chew Train.
BACKGROUND
Tuck And Rollโs Drive โEm Buggies opened as part of Flikโs Fun Fair (the rear of A Bugโs Land) in 2002. Like the rest of A Bugโs Land, the Buggies were designed specifically for younger children, providing a small-scale and tamer traditional bumper car experience. When the ride first opened, the cars moved at an incredibly slow pace, but the ride underwent a mini refurbishment shortly after its debut to speed up the cars and enhance the ride experience.
EXPERIENCE
Riders (up to 2 per vehicle) loaded into pill bug cars and race around Tuck and Rollโs tent. Guests could steer, accelerate, and crash into other cars while the vehicles were in motion, and guests could hear chatter from Tuck and Roll themselves during the ride. For 90 seconds, drivers steered the bumper cars all over the track, until PT Flea finally brought the chaos to a close.
CLOSURE
When the Tower of Terror closed to become a Guardians of the Galaxy attraction, the days of A Bug’s Land were numbered. Finally, in early 2018, Disneyland confirmed the land would close at the end of the summer season, to make room for a new Marvel themed land. Ladybug Boogie, and the rest of A Bug’s Land, closed for good in September 2018.
TRIVIA
My original rating:ย The Tuck And Rollโs Drive โEm Buggies ride is a fun version of classic bumper cars. This ride is also the most entertaining for older guests, although itโs not as aggressive or fast-paced as standard bumper cars. The tent track has lots of little details, like lightning bugs providing the lights for riders, and you can see most of the rear of A Bugโs Land from your car. If you have little ones in your group, or want to try one of the rides in A Bugโs Land, definitely stop by the Drive โEm Buggies.ย (โ โ โ โโ)
The tent housing the Buggies could be seen in A Bugโs Life; itโs PT Fleaโs circus tent!
This was the only A Bugโs Land ride in which the title character did not provide the greeting and safety tips for visitors. Itโs a good thing PT Flea helped them out, because Tuck and Roll donโt speak English.

Are these bumper cars?
Yes, they are! They don’t go very fast and have some cushioning around the base, so you don’t have to worry about them being very rough.
