With 2021 being such an unpredictable year, I fully expected December at the resort to be crazy. But honestly, this month was fairly tame. We do have a few new offerings and a recap of the end of the holiday season, but otherwise? Disneyland decided to end the year without much drama (thankfully!). Let’s take a look back at December at the resort.
CANDLELIGHT PROCESSIONAL RETURNS
On December 4, Disneyland brought back a fan favorite event: the Candlelight Processional. This beautiful ceremony features live musicians, light displays, and a guest narrator to read the story of Christmas. This year’s narrator was Sterling K. Brown.

This picture gives you an idea of how many live performers participate. I especially love the trumpeters on the roof of the train station.

AFTER DARK RESTARTS IN 2022
This month, Disneyland also announced the return of another fan favorite offering: Disneyland After Dark.

These ticketed events have special themes, dance parties, character meet and greets, and more. For more information about the 2022 offerings, check out my detailed post here.
PARTY PRIVATELY WITH MICKEY
Have you ever wanted to spend private time with Mickey Mouse? Well, now you can. Starting in January, parties of up to 10 guests can reserve 90 minutes in Mickey’s House.

The party includes time with Mickey, cupcake decorating, crafts and games, and the chance to cut the line at Gadget’s Go Coaster at the end of your time. The cost is $350 per group, and at least one member of your party must be 18+. The parties run through March, when Toontown will close to begin its renovation. For more information about booking and party details, check out the official page here.
OTHER UPDATES
Good news for SoCal residents! Disneyland is now offering a discounted ticket for visitors with Southern California addresses. The tickets are $67 per day for a 3-day, one park per day, with the visiting window running from Jan 3 to May 26.
And finally, I wanted to give you all a heads up that I will be taking the month of January off from posting. I need to catch up on some non-Disney things and recharge my blogging batteries. I hope you all have a happy new year, and I’ll see you in February! Until then, I leave you with this amazing photo of Disneyland’s Christmas parade in 1961.
