Happy March! It’s almost springtime at the Disneyland Resort, which is such a happy time to visit. With flowers blooming everywhere, refurbishment season ending, and the Food & Wine Festival taking over California Adventure, there’s always so much to see and do. But as we near the end of winter at the resort, a few newsworthy updates still managed to pop up. Let’s take a look back at February at the Disneyland Resort.
WHAT’S THIS? WHAT’S THIS? THERE’S WHITE THINGS IN THE AIR
Ok, so this technically happened on March 1st – but it’s too insane not to share. It snowed at Disneyland. Yes, technically it may be classified as graupel…but there were white flakes coming down at Disneyland that were not made of soap.
This is not a drill! IT IS FREAKIN SNOWING AT DISNEYLAND! pic.twitter.com/YjjPPtNS2W

I got a few messages asking if this is unprecedented for Disneyland. I couldn’t find any reports of snowfall at the resort since 1955. So while it may have happened before, it appears this may be a first.
THE RETURN OF THE EARL
This month, the resort celebrated the return of a former dining spot. The Earl of Sandwich has taken over the former La Brea location, now known as the Earl of Sandwich Tavern & Bar.

If you don’t want to visit the sit down restaurant, don’t worry; the left side of the building will be the usual counter ordering previously offered on the other side of Downtown Disney. You can grab a sandwich and enjoy it in either park – both are now just a few steps away from the new location!
Note: my posts on the Earl, La Brea, and La Brea Express are now outdated as a result of this change. I’ll be updating those posts in the next week or so and will get some new pictures of the Tavern during my next resort visit.
SAN FRANSOKYO SQUARE STARTS CONSTRUCTION
You might remember that the resort previously announced Pacific Wharf‘s upcoming transformation into San Fransokyo, the city from Big Hero 6. In February, construction finally started on what will become the iconic bridge.

It doesn’t look like the restaurants we know and love are going anywhere (and I’m not clear on whether the winery area will be considered part of this new land or not), but there will be one additional offering. In this new land, guests will be able to meet Baymax at his own designated meet & greet area within the square.

OTHER UPDATES
Southern California has had a very wet winter, and unfortunately – that is now impacting some construction projects. Mickey’s Toontown will now officially reopen March 19, a little more than a week later than previously anticipated.
You may have noticed a new villain roaming Avengers Campus. Keep your eyes out for Kang the Conqueror, who will be visiting “for a limited time” this winter/spring.
Feel like you missed out on this year’s Disneyland After Dark? We now have a few more “nites” to choose from. Throwback Nite and Star Wars Nite will run select nights in April and May.
And finally, don’t miss a special show in Hollywood Land this summer. Here’s the official teaser:
