Happy August! If you’re in the US (or honestly, much of the world right now), you’re probably so ready for a break from the heat. The blazing temperatures aren’t doing anything to slow down crowds at the park, nor did they keep the resort from launching some new things this month. Let’s take a look back at July.
DISNEYLAND TURNS 67
On July 17, the resort hit a special milestone. Disneyland Park turned 67!

To mark the event, characters celebrated around the park and joined the Disneyland band on Main Street. Special treats were also sold throughout the resort, including this castle cupcake from the Grand Californian.

Notably absent from this year’s festivities: the replay of Walt’s opening day message by the flagpole. Disneyland never explained why that didn’t happen this year.
THE RED CAR TROLLEY RETURNS
After more than three years of closure, a California Adventure fan favorite has finally returned.

The Red Car Trolley takes guests on a slow, scenic tour of Buena Vista Street and Hollywood Land. One component that did not return this month, however, was the Newsboy live show that happens throughout the day on Buena Vista Street. For now (or possibly forever), the trolley will solely function as a ride vehicle for guests, making the loop around the north side of the park for most of the day.
FORGOT WHERE YOU PARKED? NO PROBLEM.
Most of us have had the experience at least once of walking into a parking structure and thinking…oops. What level did I park on? To solve this common problem, both Disneyland and Walt Disney World have launched a new app feature.

Starting later this year (exact date TBD), “Car locator” will be a free function on the Disneyland app. To use the feature, you’ll enter your parking information upon arrival. And when you’re ready to leave, pull it up again to see exactly where you parked. For even more specific guidance, you can turn on location services and bluetooth, so the app can guide you to your car’s precise location within the garage.

OTHER UPDATES
Unfortunately, there are still no updates on Magic Key renewals. As the first wave’s one-year date creeps closer and closer, most of us are wondering…what are they waiting for? Could change to the program be holding it up?
Another month, another new character! In Avengers Campus, you can now meet Jane Foster as The Mighty Thor.
And finally, the resort launched a whole bunch of new food offerings. To check out descriptions and see photos, check out the Disney parks blog post here. A big one on the list: Walt’s chili cheese fries based on his signature chili.

My Cousin and family went to Disneyland not long after it opened. She said they parked and got on the tram. The tram operator came on the loudspeaker and said, “Now remember where you parked, M as in hotdog M.” She said there was no way they would forget.
Haha! That’s really funny. I definitely wouldn’t forget 🙂
