We’re rolling right into August, which means one thing…Halloween is about to descend on the Disneyland Resort. Despite the brutal summer heat (and the fact that Halloween is nearly 3 months away), it already feels like the summer season is coming to a close at the happiest place on earth.
Let’s take a look back at July happenings.
THE OFFICIAL 70TH ANNIVERSARY
Disneyland will be celebrating turning 70 for a full year, but the official anniversary took place on July 17.

The day’s festivities included a special cast member parade, collectible souvenirs around the park, and the opening of Walt’s animatronic show (Walt Disney – A Magical Life) on Main Street USA.

My favorite bit of celebration: the living legend himself Bob Gurr spent the day at the park greeting visitors!
WALT AND LILLIAN’S 100TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY
A few days before the 70th, Disneyland quietly celebrated yet another milestone – the 100th anniversary of Walt and Lillian’s wedding. Just before the park’s opening in 1955, the two marked their 30th anniversary at the Golden Horseshoe.

So on the 100th anniversary, visitors could see a display with an anniversary cake in the same location.

FREAKY FRIDAY COMES TO THE PARK
My fellow millennials were super excited to see some Freakier Friday promotions at Disneyland this month. The cast visited Tomorrowland, with Anna’s band Pink Slip performing the iconic “Take Me Away” on the Tomorrowland Stage. Anyone else still remember all the words?
The only missing main cast member was Lindsay Lohan, but it was still great to see the gang out in the park. Freakier Friday hits theaters next week.

OTHER UPDATES
The Disney Parks Blog published a really sweet story this month about two retiring cast members and longtime friends who are retiring from Disneyland after more than 50 years. I highly recommend you check it out here.
And finally, the Fantastic Four are now conducting Meet and Greets in Tomorrowland. Keep your eyes out for H.E.R.B.I.E. too – you might just see him scooting around to say hello.
