I can’t believe it’s already July. Summer is flying by and I’m trying my best to savor it before the fall and Halloween and then the holidays come crashing in. June was decently quiet at the Disneyland Resort, with some new offerings, some reduced offerings, and unfortunately – a devastating behind-the-scenes incident. Let’s take a look back at June at the Disneyland Resort.
DOWNTOWN DISNEY OPENS ITS NEWEST RESTAURANT
As Downtown Disney starts to finish its extensive renovation project, Din Tai Fung officially opened its doors to resort guests. The Chinese restaurant stands roughly where the Earl of Sandwich used to be located, near the Disneyland Hotel.

Din Tai Fung accepts reservations for lunch and dinner, and is super close to the Downtown Disney Monorail station, making it super easy to get back into Disneyland after a meal. I can’t wait to try it – let me know if you’ve been and any menu favorites I’ll have to try during my first visit.

MORE ENTERTAINMENT CUTS
Unfortunately, Disney continued the trend of cutting back on in-park experiences in June. Two groups of characters that interact daily with California Adventure visitors have been cut back approximately 20%, meaning they’re no longer in the park every day of the week. The two impacted groups are the Warriors of Wakanda:

And the Citizens of Buena Vista Street:

If you haven’t seen either group during your visit and want to make sure you catch them, ask a California Adventure cast member during your stay; they should have the latest schedule if the app doesn’t.
OTHER UPDATES
The good news is – there weren’t only cuts to entertainment in June. Pixar Pier is now welcoming Anger from Inside Out for meet and greets, joining his fellow emotions Joy and Sadness in the bandstand area.
This month, Disneyland announced the full Halloween Season lineup, including opening up Oogie Boogie Bash tickets for purchase. To see what’s coming this fall, check out my previous post here.
And finally, the Disneyland Resort suffered a tragic loss this month. Club 33 administrator Bonnie Lear reportedly fell from a golf cart backstage at the resort, passing on June 7. She had been a cast member for more than 20 years. If you’d like to donate to her family’s GoFundMe, you can do so here.
