Now that we’ve reached November, Disneyland (and virtually every other store you’ve been in lately) is full steam ahead to the holiday season. But October had quite a few things to celebrate – and Halloween came to an end with some truly stunning decor and entertainment. Let’s take a quick look back at this month at the happiest place on earth.
HALLOWEEN GOES OUT IN STYLE
October 31 marks the end of the Halloween season, both in the regular world and in Disneyland. I was fortunate enough to attend two Oogie Boogie Bashes this year – once as Pinocchio and once as Thor in his Ragnarok battle armor.
I thought the bashes were really well done this year, especially the villain’s grove! Check out my full recap here for more details about the party offerings. Overall, the Halloween decor is always a highlight each fall – even if you don’t attend a party. I especially love the Dia de los muertos theme in Frontierland, which you can find in the central plaza.
Main Street always catches my attention too. I think the orange color scheme suits the street really nicely!
A NEW SHOP ON MAIN STREET
This month, Main Street USA unveiled its newest shop: the Plaza Point Holiday Shoppe. This space will be a year-round holiday store, replacing the Main Street Photo Supply Co. Shoppers will be able to personalize ornaments and gifts, curated by the shop’s fictional shopkeeper.
According to Imagineer Kim Irvine, the shopkeeper, Miss Evelyn Toro, filled the shop with souvenirs from her travels exploring how cultures around the world celebrate different holidays.
HOLIDAYS ON THE HORIZON
Even before Halloween came to an end, Disneyland took some time in October to announce the holiday lineup. This year’s festivities include attraction overlays, the usual festival and special fireworks, and this year – the introduction of a ticketed after-hours party!

OTHER UPDATES
This month, Disney World launched Genie+. This created some confusion for Disneyland visitors – the system has NOT launched in Disneyland yet. In fact, we’re still waiting for a debut date!
Update to the Spiderman reservation system: moving forward, when boarding groups have concluded for the day, the attraction will open up for standby.
Disneyland unfortunately announced price increases for park tickets, including the introduction of a sixth tier. For more information about current prices and reservations, check out the ticket page here.
And finally, Paradise Bay unfortunately remains completely drained (and so, so ugly). Here’s hoping the World of Color refurbishment work ends soon so this eyesore goes back to being its usual beautiful self.
