Time in the park goes by so quickly, doesn’t it? The good news is, Disneyland offers extra magic in the form of extra park hours! There are two different bonus hour offerings at the Resort: Extra Magic Hour, and Magic Morning.
Extra Magic Hour
Guests of one of the three Disneyland Resort Hotels (Disneyland Hotel, Grand Californian, and Paradise Pier Hotel) can participate in Extra Magic Hour each day of their visit. That means that guests can enter one of the two Disneyland Resort parks a full hour before the official open time. Disney alternates which park hosts Extra Magic Hour each day, so you don’t get to choose which park you get the extra time in.
In Disneyland, the following attractions participate in Extra Magic Hour:
- Alice in Wonderland
- Astro Orbitor
- Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters
- Dumbo the Flying Elephant
- Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage
- King Arthur Carrousel
- Mad Tea Party
- Matterhorn Bobsleds
- Monorail
- Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride
- Peter Pan’s Flight
- Pinocchio’s Daring Journey
- Sleeping Beauty Castle Walkthrough
- Snow White’s Scary Adventures
- Space Mountain
- Star Tours: The Adventures Continue
And on California Adventure Extra Magic days, you can visit these attractions before the park opens:
- The Little Mermaid: Ariel’s Undersea Adventure
- Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters
- Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree
- Radiator Springs Racers
- Soarin’ Around the World
- Toy Story Midway Mania!
If you want to participate in Extra Magic Hours, make sure to get to the park gates at least 15 minutes before the hour starts. There are separate lines for Extra Magic guests and regular visitors, so double check that you won’t get stuck behind a locked gate! For more information about the scheduled hours during your trip, visit the official page here.
Magic Morning
If you’re not staying at a Disneyland Resort hotel, fear not, there’s still an option for you to enjoy extra time in the park! The resort also offers an event called Magic Morning, which happens on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays at Disneyland (not California Adventure). Like Extra Magic Hour, Magic Morning gives guests an hour inside the park before the official opening time. To see the attractions open during Magic Morning, see the Disneyland Extra Magic Hour list above.
To participate in Magic Morning, you need to purchase one of two things:
- A 3+ day park ticket (which you must buy before you get to the resort)
- A Southern California CityPASS (a bundle deal that includes admission to Legoland and Sea World)
If you have a one or two day ticket and no CityPASS, you unfortunately cannot participate in Magic Morning. But if you do have either a 3+ day ticket or a CityPASS, you’ll get some extra time in the park! Like with the Extra Magic Hour, make sure to get to the gates at least 15 minutes before the hour starts, and double check that you are in the correct line. For more details on Magic Morning and admission requirements, see the official page here.
Very interesting that the extra hours for hotel guests are in the morning. At Disney World, they are at night!
I didn’t realize that! I love having that extra hour in the morning. The park is so beautiful as the sun comes up, and the park is quiet and crowds are light. Sometimes I get more done in the first hour than I do in the next 3 or 4!
