The new year celebrations aren’t over yet! On Friday, February 16, we officially reach the year of the dog on the Chinese Zodiac, and California Adventure’s celebration starts this month.
From January 26 through February 18, the new Paradise Park (recently split from Paradise Pier) will host its first seasonal celebration. Watch performances featuring traditional dancers and musicians, and enjoy the glow of lanterns above Paradise gardens.
Activities this year include:
- Food stands with Chinese, Korean, and Vietnamese treats
- Live musical performances featuring traditional Chinese dancers
- The Lucky Wishing Wall
- Mickey, Minnie, and friends meeting guests in traditional Chinese clothing
- Mulan and Mushu parade
- Shops in the area offering exclusive Lunar New Year merchandise
And for the grand finale! Each evening, World of Color transforms into a new show called Hurry Home. The show tells the story of a little lantern’s journey to find its family in time for the new year. Hurry Home uses a musical score by composer Tan Dun, originally created for the opening ceremony of the Shanghai park.
