After Disneyland announced the end of the annual pass program last year, fans have eagerly been awaiting its replacement. And starting later this month, the new Magic Key program officially enters the Disneyland universe.
The Magic Key program has some general similarities and some general differences from the previous pass program:
Similarities
- Tiered levels
- Food & merchandise discounts
- Exclusive merchandise at seasonal festivals
- Access to the Alfresco Tasting Terrace
- Required advanced reservations
- Limits to # of reservations at a time
- Discounted parking, no tier with free parking
Here are the available tiers for Magic Key:

Additionally, to mark the resort’s 66th anniversary, anyone who purchases a Key (of any tier) will receive a welcome package with exclusive merchandise, plus access to a special lounge in the Starcade. The Magic Keys will be available through a one-time payment or monthly payment option, and there is also a tier specifically for Southern California residents.

I looked it over very quickly on the Disney website… not sure I understand, does the price include park entry for a certain number of days or is it just for guaranteed reservations? Also I didn’t see if Magic Hour is included (or even exists anymore). More to research before Aug 25th!!!
If my understanding is correct, the price per tier represents number of days you can visit (only the top tier has no blackout days), like the old system. You can only have X number of reservations at a time (depending on tier), and you have to have reservations to get in. I don’t think the passes limit # of reservations beyond a certain number at a given time. But agreed – I still need to keep researching too!
I have the same question about magic hour – I don’t think it exists in any form right now, but may come back in the future.
