When you spend all day running from attraction to show to parade, it’s easy to get really tired, really fast. Sometimes you just need a quiet place to rest, think, and regroup before you jump back into the action. So where should you go? Here’s my picks for the top 5 hidden seating areas at the resort!
5. Toon Park
If I had to use one word to describe Toontown, it would be boisterous. But even this energetic, loud, and interactive land has one quiet little oasis for weary travelers. To the left of the land entrance, visitors can take a stroll through Toon Park, an enclosed seating area with plenty of benches, shade, and space to stretch.
4. Casey Jr. Platform
Most of Fantasyland is squeezed in tightly, so it’s always crowded. But in the back of the land, by Dumbo, you’ll find an elevated platform that leads to the Circus Train. Most visitors don’t notice, but the platform actually has a huge seating area with umbrellas and picnic tables. Want a place to sit down for a minute, while still enjoying the beauty of Fantasyland? The Casey Jr. platform is the perfect place to be.
3. Fantasyland Dock
Over on the other side of Fantasyland, there’s another hidden spot that’s just about as quiet as you can get in Disneyland. To find this seating area, head down toward the It’s A Small World walkway. Just to the left of Edelweiss Snacks, you’ll see a covered dock extending into the lagoon. This was once the speedboat dock, and is now a waterfront place to sit, eat, and enjoy the view.
2. Frontierland Shipping Office
Looking for an even more remote seating area? Wander over to Frontierland. Along the waterfront, you’ll see a brown building, the Shipping Office. Climb the stairs (or the ramp), and you’ll find a small deck sitting riverside. You can watch the boats pass by, enjoy some snacks from the nearby food carts, or just enjoy the ambiance of Disneyland’s wildest land.
1. Silly Swings Deck
Last but not least, California Adventure has a hidden seating area with a breathtaking view of Paradise Bay. If you walk toward the entrance to the Silly Symphony Swings, you’ll notice a lower platform beneath the actual ride. You can walk along the platform, which jets out over the water. The views here are absolutely stunning, and it’s one of my favorite places to sit with a churro and just soak in my surroundings.
Thanks for sharing these seating areas! Sometimes it’s so hard to find a place to take a break from the crowds
I need to go back with this list and try ’em all!
You might just see me there! 🙂
This is good to know. I love finding new places to hangout and chill while at the parks ?
i sat at the famsty dock
Love this! Always need a good place to sit down at Disney!
There’s an awesome area across from Soarin at dc, between the bathrooms and a gift shop. It is shaded, has benches, water fountains, and a few outlets for charging phones and devices! Hidden gem for sure.
Frontierland Shipping Office is an excellent sit-down spot. I was surprised when I took my family last year how it was generally empty even though it’s right next next to a food stand and Big Thunder Mountain’s entrance.
This article also closes the second puzzle piece to an early childhood memory: the Motor Boat Cruise! I wasn’t sure if that was a real thing either or just blended memories with Rescue Ranger Raceway. Turns out it had a Gummi Bears overlay and closed around the same time.
I know, right?! I love the shipping office deck. So peaceful. And I’m jealous you got to experience the Motor Boat Cruise – I would’ve loved to see it.
From what I remember, it was very pretty like most slow, scenic Disney attractions. It’s always nice to see the oark from different angles. I’ve heard they’ve finally taken out part of these waterways recently with the new construction which is too bad.
I loved your ‘Hidding Seatings Areas’ tips! I’m always looking for these ‘hidding gems’. Thanks a lot, I’m from Brazil – going for D23 Expo for the second time – and tips like these are really precious 🙂 P.S.: Do you know what is the easiest way to go to LA from Anaheim? I intend to visit Hollywood Boulevard, but as far as I read at the internet, I have to take one bus and then two trains, is it true? Thanks a lot, and keep doing a wonderful (Disney) job! 🙂
Thank you, Bruno! I’m so glad I could help. Public transportation between Hollywood and Disneyland is a bit of a pain. If you can, I’d strongly recommend getting a rental car! Otherwise, you will have to hop trains unfortunately.
Great idea – thanks a lot! 🙂
