Welcome to Ask The Duchess – Vol. 64, a monthly Q&A post covering a variety of resort-related topics. Ask The Duchess answers questions submitted by readers. If you have a question you’d like answered, send me a message here.
1. What was Walt’s involvement in developing California Adventure? (submitted by Noreen)
None. Walt died in 1966, and Disney didn’t announce any plans for a second gate until 1991.
2. Are you allowed to bring alcohol into Disneyland? (submitted by Lisa)
You can’t bring outside alcohol into the resort. But once you are in the security “bubble”, you can purchase alcohol and drink it. In California Adventure, you can walk around with your drink, and in Downtown Disney and Disneyland you must be seated at a bar or restaurant.
3. Do I need to show ID to get through security? (submitted by Michael)
Nope. You don’t even need to show your park ticket to get through security, since Downtown Disney does not require any sort of ticket!
4. Can I visit a Disneyland hotel pool without being a guest? (submitted by Jacqui)
Nope – you need an active room key to access hotel pools.
5. Is Rise of the Resistance worth the effort to ride if you’re not a Star Wars fan?
Absolutely. The tech and ride experience are astounding before you even get to the storytelling. For a more detailed explanation of what to expect, check out my post here.
