Happy first day of March! I’m so ready for spring to come rolling in, no matter what the groundhog said this year. And it seems like Disneyland is too – there’s quite a bit on the horizon, from new entertainment to the return of a much-needed staple. Let’s jump right in.

THE PARTY STARTS AFTER SUNDOWN

Fans of nighttime shows have a lot to be excited about this spring.

We now have some dates for the reopening of a few fan favorite shows:

In addition to this “regularly scheduled programming”, Disneyland had another surprise for us this month: the return of the Main Street Electrical Parade. The parade is celebrating its 50th anniversary and will mark the occasion with a new finale. This finale will combine more than a dozen movie characters together, on an amazing stage inspired by Mary Blair’s art style.

ABOUT TIME, TRAMS

Ladies and gentleman, we’ve been waiting a long time for this one. Disneyland’s trams, which transport guests from the Mickey and Friends parking structure to the esplanade, are finally back. Since the park’s reopening in 2021, guests using that parking structure have been forced to walk the route. If you’re not familiar with the tram, the distance is roughly the same from the structure to the esplanade as the walk from the park gate to Galaxy’s Edge. It’s a long way, especially if you’re traveling with toddlers.

In February, that frustration finally came to an end with the trams officially restarting service.

OTHER UPDATES

This month, Disneyland followed the state of California (and Orange County) with updating mask guidelines. Right now, the current policy states that unvaccinated guests are required to wear masks at all indoor locations, and vaccinated guests only have to wear masks in transportation vehicles (buses, the Monorail), and in the first aid areas. As of writing this post, the park is not checking vaccine cards, but I will let you know if that changes. Note: any political commentary or mask rants in the comments (in either direction) will be removed.

If walking around the parks all day isn’t enough exercise during your trip, you now have a new option. Visitors staying at the Grand Californian, Disneyland Hotel, or Paradise Pier Hotel can sign up for 30-45 minute classes that take place in California Adventure before the park opens! For more information about the specific classes available, check out the Disney Parks Blog post here.

And finally, the LA Rams stopped by Disneyland this month to celebrate their super bowl win. The team went on a mini parade along Main Street, with a few characters joining in on the fun in special outfits for the occasion.

A reader also sent over this great shot of the parade! Thank you Byron 🙂

  1. I just stayed at the Disneyland Hotel for the first time on Friday and wish I had known about the exercise classes! Guess that’s just another reason I’ll have to go back.

    • Haha yeah it was a surprisingly quiet announcement! I only found out by just randomly checking the parks blog 🙂
