Welcome to Ask The Duchess – Vol. 108, a monthly Q&A post covering a variety of resort-related topics. Ask The Duchess answers questions submitted by readers. If you have a question you’d like answered, send me a message here.

1. How much walking should I expect to do on a typical Disneyland day? (submitted by Ari)

It’s hard to answer this because everyone has different touring styles (visiting lands in order, hopping like crazy, taking breaks vs. powering through). If it helps, in my 10+ years of visiting I consistently average 8-10 miles a day.

2. Which resort hotel do you stay in during your trips? (submitted by Clara)

I almost never stay in a resort hotel because they are so brutally expensive. But on the rare occasions that I do, I like the Disneyland Hotel the best. The rooms are comparable to the Grand Californian but significantly cheaper, and I like being close to Trader Sam’s!

3. Am I allowed to bring VR goggles to Disneyland? (submitted by Doug)

I gotta be honest…I have absolutely no idea. Probably not, but a nice security guard might be a little lenient with you. I truly don’t know why you would need or want them with you on your trip though?

4. Is Tom Sawyer Island a “must visit”? (submitted by Brittany)

Not personally for me every trip, but it’s definitely worth seeing at least once. If you have little ones in your party that could use a moment to let off steam and run around and play, it is the perfect place to go, with plenty of seating areas for parents to get off their feet. Or if you’re someone obsessed with taking photos like me, you’ll get some incredible views of the western side of the park.

5. What restaurant is the most overrated at the resort? (submitted by James)

Blue Bayou. If you get a front row seat along the water, it’s so much fun. But otherwise, you’re kind of just in a normal restaurant paying a premium, and the food is extremely mediocre.
