Welcome to Ask The Duchess Vol. 35, a monthly Q&A post covering a variety of resort-related topics. Ask The Duchess answers questions submitted by readers. If you have a question you’d like answered, send me a message here!

1. Does Disneyland do anything to celebrate Dia de los Muertos? (submitted by Elena)

Yes! Part of the Halloween festivities include Dia de los Muertos. Frontierland dedicates a whole section of Zocalo park (in the land’s courtyard) to the holiday.

2. Where can I get an adult princess costume at Disneyland? (submitted by Penny)

Nowhere. Adults are not allowed to wear costumes in the park (except for the Halloween Party), so they are not for sale.

3. Does Disneyland sell any Disney World branded merchandise? (submitted by Hannah)

Very, very little. Occasionally, you might find something that says “Disney World” if there isn’t a Disneyland equivalent (for example, I saw an Elsa mug that said Disney World in tiny letters on my last trip). But for the most part, it will all be Disneyland stuff.

4. Is Disneyland a feasible day trip from Las Vegas? (submitted by Angelina)

The drive is about 4 hours without traffic each way, so I’d recommend a weekend, not a day trip.

5. Where do you get your information about closed Disneyland attractions? (submitted by Chad)

There are TONS of great sources for Disneyland history. I have a few books, plus I’ve found some great LA Times and OC Register articles from previous decades. Finally, I also get some information from Disney Parks Blog, archived Disneyland press releases, and on occasion, firsthand experiences from readers.

6. How many Disney parks have you been to around the world? Just wondering how different they really are from each other. (submitted by Miranda)

I’ve been to 6 parks at 2 resorts: Disneyland and California Adventure at the Disneyland Resort, and the Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Animal Kingdom, and Hollywood Studios at the Walt Disney World Resort. Unfortunately, I have yet to visit any overseas parks. But Disneyland and Disney World are extraordinarily different, even the two “same” parks: Disneyland and Magic Kingdom. I wrote a comparison post between the two, which you can check out here. California Adventure, EPCOT, Animal Kingdom, and Hollywood Studios all have unique themes, attractions, shows, and dining. They’re completely distinct experiences!
