Welcome to Ask The Duchess – Vol. 55, a monthly Q&A post covering a variety of resort-related topics. Ask The Duchess answers questions submitted by readers. If you have a question you’d like answered, send me a message here.
1. My annual pass expires in June. Should I renew? (submitted by Sharon)
That’s a completely personal decision, so I really can’t answer this question. If you do opt to renew and are concerned about paying for months you can’t use it for – don’t worry. Disneyland is extending pass expirations dates for however long the park remains closed.
2. Will characters be wearing masks when the park reopens? (submitted by Beth)
I have absolutely no idea – Disneyland has not yet announced a reopening plan or process.
3. Assuming the park is open again in the fall, is there a better or worse Halloween party to attend? (submitted by Chad)
I don’t think so. I’ve done September Halloween parties, early October, and the last one before Halloween. They were all equally popular, equally themed, and equally fun!
4. What is the name of Disneyland’s app? (submitted by Neia)
It’s called “Disneyland“! If you type Disneyland into the app store, it should be the first result.
5. What’s still on your Disneyland to-do list?? (submitted by Rihannon)
I try my best to have a new experience every time I visit – and a lot of those are last-minute things I realize I’ve never done! But here’s my dream list, some of which I fully realize might not be possible:
-
- Visit Walt’s Apartment (they added it to the Walk in Walt’s Footsteps Tour RIGHT after I did it. So bummed.)
- Spend a night in the Dream Suite
- Dine in Club 33 & the 1901 Lounge
- Climb inside the Matterhorn (& see the basketball court!)
- Have a VIP tour guide for a day
- Walk through Disneyland before park opening or after park close, when it’s quiet and empty
- Stand on the castle’s rear balcony, facing Fantasyland (yes, it’s a real balcony!!!)
The balcony in question. Wouldn’t you love to see the view from up there?!
P.S. – you may have noticed that I’ve only been posting on Tuesdays for the last few weeks. I think given what’s going on in the world, we don’t need constant posts about a place we can’t even visit right now. It just doesn’t feel appropriate.
Look for a post every Tuesday, with the regular Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday schedule picking back up when the park reopens.

I appreciate the manner in which you’re posting during this incredibly difficult time. Thank you so much for this awesome website! Disney has been a wonderful experience to dive into during the quarantine & the societal upheaval- your website has been almost as good as actually Going to Disneyland ?
Thank you so much for your comment! I’ve been extremely torn about how to handle things with the blog, and it’s so nice to hear that it is helping you cope a little during this difficult time.
