Welcome to Ask The Duchess – Vol. 89, a monthly Q&A post covering a variety of resort-related topics. Ask The Duchess answers questions submitted by readers. If you have a question you’d like answered, send me a message here.
1. When it’s miserably hot out and lines are long everywhere, what in your opinion are the best lines to stand in to stay cool? (submitted by Clara)
Ooh, interesting question. While most lines have substantial outdoor portions, there are a few with nice AC for most or all of it:
-
- Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway
- Rise of the Resistance (unless the super extended outdoor portion of the queue is in use)
- Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin
- Star Tours – The Adventures Continue
I’d also recommend prioritizing indoor shows on days like this. Places like Mickey’s Philharmagic or the Tiki Room can get you comfortably in the AC for a nice heat break.
2. Can I bring sunscreen into the park? Is that allowed? (submitted by Taylor)
Yes, and you should – the SoCal sun is STRONG.
3. Any snacks I should get at Disneyland that I can’t get at Disney World? (submitted by Doug)
I’m sure there are more answers, but my big one would be churros. They are EVERYWHERE in Disneyland and hard to find in Disney World as far as I know.
4. Is there anything else to do in the Anaheim area for a family visiting SoCal for a longer period than just Disney? (submitted by Karen)
Yes, absolutely. Orange County has plenty to explore on vacation – including Knotts Berry Farm if you want to keep the amusement park trend going. But there’s also an aquarium, a zoo, and of course you’re a little more than an hour drive from either San Diego or Los Angeles, which have even more to do.
5. What’s something you overhear in the park all the time that makes you want to interrupt a stranger’s conversation and say “that’s wrong!!!” for me it’s “there’s a restaurant in the castle – no, that’s in Florida!!!” (submitted by Petra)
Haha! That was the first one that came to mind when I read this question as well. Honestly though, the ones that really get me are when one person is giving another advice that I know is off-base or not a good idea. It’s none of my business but I just want to say, “No don’t do that, do this instead. I promise it will work out much better!”
