During the holiday season, Buena Vista Street follows Main Street’s lead and goes full-out on décor. Garlands, tinsel, ornaments, and a giant tree fill the street with cheer. Head over to the present pile beneath the tree, and you’ll find a special hidden gem with a connection to the Disney family.

Somewhere in the present pile, you’ll see a replica of a 1930s Donald Duck toy. The newly introduced character was such a hit that the toy became one of the most popular holiday children’s gifts…so much so that Walt himself bought one for each of his daughters.

Sadly I couldn’t find any photos of Walt or his daughters with the toy, but I love this little detail hidden on the street. It’s not well publicized either – I had heard it from a cast member and then saw the story confirmed on the former Disneyland Today Twitter account a few years ago. But as you know, those types of hidden gems are my favorites…the SUPER subtle ones!
