When California Adventure first opened, it looked quite a bit different than it does now. Lands have come and gone as the park evolved and grew over time. In the Grizzly Peak airfield, there’s a hidden gem that pays tribute to a former land that once called the area home. To find it, head over to Humphrey’s.
In front of the shop, you’ll see a few gas pumps. Look closely at the brand name to find the name “Condor Gas”.
This is a nod to Condor Flats, the original land occupying the eastern section of Grizzly Peak. In March 2015, Grizzly Peak absorbed the area to create one larger land instead of two separate ones. The name is also a nod to the California condor, the largest land bird in North America (though surprisingly not the state bird). Though the Condor’s namesake land has left the park, the Condor Gas logo still keeps its memory alive in the smallest of ways.
