The Grizzly Peak Airfield draws in tons of visitors from neighboring lands. Usually they come for Soarinโ, but many end up staying for the food and shopping! Humphreyโs Service & Supplies pays tribute to classic 50s pit stop shops, selling odds, ends, and souvenirs for passing travelers.
SHOPPING TIPS
Everything in this shop is available in other parts of the park and in Downtown Disney, so this certainly isnโt a โmust visitโ. However, if youโre killing time before a fast pass, wandering Grizzly Peak, or looking for an affordable souvenir, Humphreyโs Service & Supplies is a great place to shop. I typically browse in here while Iโm waiting for someone in my group to use the bathroom, since itโs right next door.
TRIVIA
Walt Disney Imagineering show writer Carolyn Gardner described the shop as follows: โHumphreyโs Service & Supplies is an homage to the roadside stops of the late 1950s and early 1960s when families packed up the station wagon and set out on vacation. My family took long trips like that, and in the summer, we rolled down all the windows because our station wagon didnโt have air conditioning. When weโd spot a gas station, dad would fill up the car and we kids would run to pick out a cold drink from the soda machine. First thing Iโd do was put that icy cold glass bottle on my forehead and neck, just to cool off.โ
This shop gets its name from Humphrey the Bear, the star of several Disney animation shorts aired in the 1950s.
