Midway Mercantile

June 2008 – present

LOCATION

Pixar Pier – The Midway Mercantile serves as the exit to Toy Story Midway Mania!, along the center of the boardwalk. But you don’t need to go on the ride to visit the shop. You’ll find it on the main walkway, about halfway between the Incredicoaster and Pixar Pal-A-Round.

EXPERIENCE

Details:

  • Merchandise – Toy Story and other Pixar clothing, toys, stuffed animals, drinkware, and more
  • Price Range – Most items range between $20 and $50, with some cheaper goods like keychains
  • Unique Features – Green aliens watching over the center displays

After playing games with Woody, Buzz, and the gang, you might just have the urge to buy some Toy Story souvenirs. If that’s the case, there’s no better place to shop than the Midway Mercantile. While other stores in the park (and across the resort) offer this merchandise, the Midway Mercantile is California Adventure’s largest selection specifically dedicated to the franchise.

SHOPPING TIPS

Since Midway Mania dumps you into this shop, the easiest time to shop here is after riding. Because it’s such an open building, crowds flow pretty freely, so there’s no better or worse time of day to avoid foot traffic.

TRIVIA

From 2008 – 2018, this shop belonged to Paradise Pier, before the land split and the boardwalk became Pixar Pier.

The upstairs portion of the shop (only viewable upon exiting the ride) is a little office, with some interesting boxes displayed on the floor. You’ll see the boxes labeled “Midway Games Play Set”. Some interpret this to mean this fictional shop proprietor invented a home version of the attraction. But personally, I think it suggests we were just shrunk down to the size of toys to play the game, and have now returned to the real world.
