January 1976 – present
LOCATION
Main Street USA – The Disneyana shop is hard to miss; it’s the closest retail space to the park gates. To find this shop, keep to the right as you enter the park. You’ll see the shop on your right, just before the Disney Gallery.
EXPERIENCE
Details:
- Merchandise – Art, animation cells, miscellaneous collectibles
- Price Range – Most items over $50, with rarer animation cells over $250+
- Unique Features – Open vault displaying rare memorabilia
If you’re looking to take home some Disneyland history, Disneyana is your best bet. Though the shop’s selection is limited, you can occasionally find some extraordinary souvenirs – from rare animation cells to hand-painted art featuring classic characters. The shop connects directly to the Disney Gallery as well, so visitors can also purchase additional art and illustrations from the kiosks scattered throughout the gallery space.
SHOPPING TIPS
Even if you have no intention of buying anything in this shop, it’s worth visiting just for the vault. Every time you visit, you’ll most likely see something new here. I’ve seen a park ticket from 1955, an animation cell from the Jungle Book, and a drawing of three princesses signed by the voice actresses. The rest of the shop has some really cool finds too, but the vault is really the only place in Disneyland to take a look deep into the archives.
TRIVIA
The term “Disneyana” refers to souvenirs, especially vintage, from any part of the Walt Disney Co.
From 1976-1986, Disneyana stood further down Main Street, next to the Crystal Arcade. It swapped spots with a jewelry shop to expand its footprint and has been by the Opera House ever since.
Disneyland Paris is currently the only other Disney park with a Disneyana shop.
