October 2002 – March 2021
LOCATION
New Orleans Square – Le Bat En Rouge’s red façade was hard to miss. If you arrived in New Orleans Square from Frontierland or Adventureland, you’d find it down the first alleyway, just after the Blue Bayou. If you were coming from the train station, you’s see it on the right, as the road bent out by the Pirates of the Caribbean exit.
EXPERIENCE
Le Bat En Rouge offered a curated selection of the Disney Dress line, celebrating Disney parks and movie classics in clothing form. Visitors could shop a selection of vintage-style dresses, bags, ties, and smaller accessories, all in the magical setting provided by New Orleans Square.
CLOSURE
In 2021, the shop unexpectedly closed. For a while, signs teasing something new made many think a quick-service dining spot would take up the space. But then, Disney announced plans for a kitchen accessories and home goods shop, which finally opened about a year and a half later.
TRIVIA
Though the shop had been in continuous operation since 2002, it was only a Disney Dress shop from 2017 – 2021. From 2002-2017, Le Bat sold Nightmare Before Christmas merchandise.
I’ve been searching high and low for a cute Lottie La Bouff outfit for my daughter-I wonder if this shop carries any of her outfits?
I don’t believe the Disney Dress line has ever sold a La Bouff dress. But if you can’t find a good dress and still want to dress like her, you might want to search for Charlotte “DisneyBounds”. These are regular outfits inspired by a character – so you can play dress up without a costume. Here’s an example! https://disneybound.co/post/129885264026
