May 1983 – present
LOCATION
Fantasyland – The Mad Hatter Fantasyland fits nicely in “Alice Corner”, next to the Alice in Wonderland attraction and the Mad Tea Party. To find the shop from the castle courtyard, keep to the right. You’ll see the shop around the corner, just after Peter Pan. If you’re coming from Toontown or Tomorrowland, head toward the Mad Tea Party. You’ll see the shop just behind the entrance to the sunken teacup queue.
EXPERIENCE
Details:
- Merchandise – Hats, ears, and accessories
- Price Range – Most items under $30
- Unique Features – Cheshire Cat appears and disappears
Looking for some ears or a Disney hat during your trip to Disneyland? Why not swing by the Mad Hatter? After all, he may be the most famous hatter of all time – you should probably trust his judgment. Choose from a large selection of hats, headbands, and ears, and your Disney outfit will be complete.
SHOPPING TIPS
There are few places in Fantasyland without crowds, including the Mad Hatter. But crowds do fluctuate here, so if it’s too crowded for your liking, just try again later. I prefer stopping by this shop after dark, just because I think it’s a little easier to see the Cheshire Cat.
TRIVIA
The first Mad Hatter Fantasyland opened in 1956, in the castle courtyard. During Fantasyland’s expansion and refurbishment, the shop moved over to its current location.
The Mad Hatter has a sister shop on Main Street USA.
