Main Street Magic Shop

Spring 1957 – present

LOCATION

Main Street USA โ€“ Disneylandโ€™s iconic magic shop sits on the eastern side of the street. To find the shop, walk toward the castle and keep to the right; youโ€™ll see the neon marquee just as the street narrows from the open town square.

EXPERIENCE

Details:

  • Merchandiseโ€“ magic accessories, gags, cards, and books
  • Prince Rangeโ€“ Most items under $50
  • Unique Featuresโ€“ masks along the upper bookcase, and Houdini posters along the walls; Magic Shop Illusion in the front window

Everyone knows Disneyland is a magical place, but the Main Street Magic Shop is the only place in the park that sells visitors tools to create their own magic at home! Here, youโ€™ll find guide books, classic magic supplies, and a few cast members always willing to demonstrate a trick or two.

SHOPPING TIPS

Even if you donโ€™t have any interest in buying magic supplies at Disneyland, this shop is still worth a visit. The cast members behind the counter perform all kinds of card and slight-of-hand tricks. They wonโ€™t teach you how they did it, but you can have fun guessing!

Word to the wise: avoid this shop during parades or fireworks shows. Itโ€™s TINY, and guests will weave through shops to try and avoid the crowds camped out for performances. Youโ€™ll easily get stuck in here until the parade or fireworks end, and the shop can feel a little claustrophobic.

TRIVIA

Look up at the ceiling just inside the doorway; youโ€™ll see a Hidden Mickey made of cards.

Fantasyland once had a sister shop: Merlinโ€™s Magic Shop. The store closed in 1983, when Fantasyland went through its massive overhaul.

Look on the wall, and youโ€™ll see an autographed photo of Steve Martin! Steve Martin worked in the Fantasyland shop during the 60s.

    • Hi Steve – Disneyland’s stores don’t have individual phone #s available to the public. You’ll need to contact the Disneyland Resort in general. Here’s the page with all of their different #s, depending on what specifically you are looking for: https://disneyland.disney.go.com/help/phone/. Hope that helps.

  1. Hello,
I was at the magic store January 12th of 2023 and the gentleman ( didnโ€™t get his name handlebar mustache and very nice) demonstrated a trick using 3 small plastic stackable cups and the trick had him making some sugar disappear then reappear in a different cup. At least that is what I remembered. A work buddy was very excited I was visiting the magic shop so thought it would be fun to buy him that trick. Purchased the trick along with a deck of cards, the whole bill was like $45. Got back to work gave him the box and when he opened the box it was empty. He asked if it was a disappearing magic trick, he was a good sport but still it was rather deflating. So basically I purchased then carried an empty box all the way back to Tacoma Washington. Any way I could have another one sent to my address? Paid with-a credit card and my friend has the box. A weird situation Iโ€™ll admit. Thank you.

    • Hi Charlie! I don’t work for Disney, so I can’t help you replace your missing item (what a bummer by the way!). But if you contact the Disneyland Resort’s merchandise #, they may be able to help you: (877) 560-6477.
