LOCATION
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge – Savi’s Workshop is nestled beneath the walkway up to the marketplace, next to the Droid Depot. If you’re entering Galaxy’s Edge from the Frontierland side, head toward Ronto Roasters and the upper level, and keep right before the walkway starts to climb.
EXPERIENCE
Details:
- Merchandise – custom lightsabers
- Price Range – as of April 2021, the experience costs $220 plus tax
- Unique Features – ceremony & show-like experience as you build your lightsaber
Have you ever dreamed of building your own lightsaber? At Savi’s workshop, you can customize your weapon, from the cyber crystal powering your blade to the style and theme of the base. Here are the official descriptions of each theme:
- Peace and Justice – Salvaged scraps from fallen Jedi temples and crashed starships in these Republic-era designs honor the galaxy’s former guardians.
- Power and Control – Originally forged by dark side warriors, this style features rumored remnants from the Sith home world and abandoned temples.
- Elemental Nature – This theme embodies the Force—an energy created by all living things, like Brylark trees, Cartusion whale bones and Rancor teeth.
- Protection and Defense – Hilt materials bear mysterious motifs and inscriptions that reconnect users with the ancient wellspring of the Force.
Once you’ve built your lightsaber, you’ll participate in an official lighting ceremony and see your creation come to life! Note: you must purchase a lightsaber to participate in the build and ceremony.
SHOPPING TIPS
I highly, highly recommend making a reservation to build a lightsaber if this is of interest to you. You can make a reservation up to 60 days in advance online or through the Disneyland app.
If someone in your group wants to join in on the fun but not actually build a lightsaber, each builder is permitted 1 guest to watch the experience.
TRIVIA
Per Galaxy’s Edge lore, Savi is a human supporter of the resistance. He disguises the workshop as a salvage store to hide it from the First Order. The workshop is a safe haven for force sensitive creatures to build their lightsabers in secret.
According to Disney Parks, there are more than 120,000 possible combinations for a lightsaber build in the workshop.
I haven’t been able to get back to Disneyland from Australia since the opening of Galaxy’s Edge, and I am just loving the look of the architecture and “world building” of the place, quite apart from shops and rides etc… I think it just looks fantastic and can’t wait to get there in person.
I think you will love it! It genuinely took my breath away the first time I walked through.
